Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Production Machine Operator uses equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging and other steps along a production line. This position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure that production is as efficient and safe as possible.
A. Operations
a) Operate machines to produce quality products that meet or exceed company quality standards
b) Utilize basic problem solving skills to ensure stable operations
c) Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to Production Lead
d) Optimize production and packaging performance and yield
e) Listen to machinery to ensure that if something doesn’t sound, act, or seem right the appropriate personnel is notified to keep machines in good working order
f) Act as first line quality control by examining output to ensure what’s being made is up to standard
g) Aware of daily output goals to ensure sufficient quantity is met for delivery obligations
h) Inform the Production Lead when you notice anything that might be affecting the assembly line output
i) Undertake training in multiple processes
j) Report equipment downtime to the Production Lead and Mechanical Engineer and record on production log
k) Maintain processes within pre-determined limits and monitor non-conformance
l) Assist in simplification and/or improvements of procedures, techniques or processes
B. Health & Safety
a) Follow workplace and governmental guidelines to reduce the chance of injury to yourself and others
b) Wear appropriate safety protection at all times and ensure compliance with health and safety policy and procedures
c) Maintain one’s own work area to established housekeeping standards
d) Inspects tools and product for conformance with operational standards
e) Compliance with company’s health and safety policies and procedures
C. Administrative
a) Perform manual data entry requirements of each operation
b) Ensure that they are helping to support maintain records of analysis and certification
c) Continue to provide a workplace that they can strive to maintain
d) Adhere to all relevant documentation systems used in the production procedure
D. Compliance (Policies & Procedures)
a) Support continuous improvement efforts with management
b) Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s quality system
c) Follow detailed production instructions, processes and procedures
E. Perform Other Related Duties as Required
a) Follow written and verbal instructions, attend required meetings as directed by management
b) Flexible to transfer to any other duties considered necessary to meet the needs of the business
c) Help in identifying and eliminating problems
d) Undertake training as required
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with colleagues
- English, Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to meet or exceed company attendance and punctuality standards
- Interpersonal skills, ability to work on a project basis, self-starter, initiative, and an inquiring mind
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reason and influence at all levels
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills
- Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities
- Ability to work in a team environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Specific vision requirements include close and color vision
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, may also engage in frequent bending, stooping, and squatting
- Due to the open environment of the facility, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity, and cold
- Due to machinery usage, must be able to work around heavy noise, humidity and dust
- Travel is not required for this job, as production operators perform all their duties from within the factory itself.
